Wireshark: The Network X-Ray

Seeing the Invisible Internet

By RecOsint | Dec 1, 2025

The Internet is not magic. It is millions of tiny "Packets" flying through cables and Wi-Fi signals. Normally, you can't see them. Wireshark catches these packets mid-air and freezes them for you to read.

If you are on an unencrypted network (HTTP), Wireshark sees Everything. Images: It reconstructs pictures you viewed. Emails: It reads the text of your emails. Passwords: It captures credentials in plain text.

What Can It See?

Why Encryption Matters This tool proves why HTTPS (the Lock icon) is vital. Without HTTPS: Wireshark sees "Password: 12345". With HTTPS: Wireshark only sees scrambled garbage code. Lesson: Never login to a site without the Lock.

INetwork Administrators use Wireshark daily to fix broken internet. Slow WiFi? Wireshark shows where the traffic jam is. Malware? It spots suspicious connections sending data to foreign servers.

Not Just for Hackers

To understand cybersecurity, you must understand the traffic. Wireshark is Free, Open Source, and the first tool you should learn.
