VPN Setup Guide

Windows & Android Configuration

Your ISP is Watching. Without a VPN, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) sees every website you visit. On Public WiFi, hackers can see your traffic too. The Fix: A VPN creates an encrypted tunnel. Setup Time: Less than 5 minutes.

Don't use the built-in Windows settings; they are limited. Use the Provider's App. 1) Download: Get the .exe installer from your VPN's official site (e.g., Proton, Nord, Surfshark). 2) Install & Login. 3) Auto-Connect: Go to Settings > General and check "Launch on Startup." You should never be online without it.

1) Windows (The Easy Way)

Your phone leaks more data than your PC. 1. Play Store: Download the official app. 2. Permission: When you click "Connect" for the first time, Android will ask for permission to intercept traffic. Tap "OK" (or Allow). 3. Result: A small "Key" icon will appear in your status bar.

2) Android Configuration

Installation is not the last step. Verification is. Test: Connect your VPN, then go to dnsleaktest.com. Success: If it shows a location in "Switzerland" or "USA" (and not your real city), you are safe.

Verify Your IP

This is the most important setting. If your VPN connection drops (even for 1 second), your real IP is exposed. Action: Go to VPN Settings and turn on "Kill Switch". Effect: If the VPN disconnects, it cuts your internet completely until the secure connection returns.

The "Kill Switch"

Choose the Right Protocol VPNs use different languages (Protocols) to talk. WireGuard: Use this for Speed (Gaming/Streaming). It is modern and fast. OpenVPN (TCP): Use this for Stability. It is slower but harder for firewalls to block. IKEv2: Best for mobile users who switch between WiFi and Data often.

What if your Banking App blocks the VPN? Use Split Tunneling. How: In settings, select "Split Tunneling." Config: Add your Banking App to the "Bypass VPN" list. Result: The Bank sees your real local IP, but the rest of your phone stays encrypted.

Split Tunneling

There are hundreds of VPNs, but we trust Proton VPN. Why? It is based in Switzerland (Strong Privacy Laws) and developed by CERN scientists. It has a Strict No-Logs policy. Free Version: Best free plan with No Data Limits (3 countries). Paid Version: Adds faster servers, streaming support, and AdBlocker (NetShield).
